A submarine captain and his new second-in-command clash during a military crisis. Excellent testosterone-fuelled drama, making full claustrophobic use of naval service underwater tropes. Superior technical credits and a rousing score supplement the crew of capable character actors.

Psycho (1998, dir. Gus Van Sant)
Almost shot-for-shot remake of the 1960 Hitchcock classic of the same name. An odd thing to attempt, and one which flags up the uniqueness of the original, despite (and maybe because of) a solid cast and respectful treatment of the first movie.
Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III (1990, dir. Jeff Burr)
A young couple and a survivalist fall foul of the Sawyers. Straightforward back-roads bodycount series entry, with the Sawyer family dynamic again the most interesting aspect. Notable for a young Viggo Mortensen in the cast, plus veteran Ken Foree.
