An army ranger is transported to another dimension, where she must battle giant creatures. Okay and often handsome video game franchise adaptation, efficiently-enough riffing on everything from Aliens to Beetlejuice via Starship Troopers: well-tailored for an international action market, if a touch po-faced in execution for the most part.
A zoologist and a renegade scientist team up to stop genetically-enhanced animals rampaging. Perfunctory and slightly po-faced monster mayhem, with only Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s man in black entering properly into the tongue-in-cheek fray.
A bike courier/heiress follows clues left by her missing father to a forbidden tomb. OK series reboot with plenty of action, chases and the usual set-piece puzzle lair supernatural finale. Nothing new, but competently done, with a good central performance.
Alice returns to Raccoon City to face down Dr Isaacs, lured by the promise of a vaccine to the T-Virus. The sixth instalment of this midlist franchise is surprisingly feisty, with bags of action and some good lines. For fans only, maybe, but they won’t be disappointed.
