Tag (2018, dir. Jeff Tomsic)

Five school friends have been playing the same game of tag for 30 years. Based on a true story, this is a solid action-comedy with a couple of moments of dark genius. The denouement is emotionally-manipulated, but by then the flick’s earned enough goodwill to let matters slide. Unexpectedly good, and thus a recommendation.

Zombieland: Double Tap (2019, dir. Ruben Fleischer)

Ten years after the events of Zombieland; tensions split the group, but new threats emerge.  Horror-comedy z-sequel that offers pretty much the same as before, though with inevitably diminished returns. Fine for those who liked the first one, though there’s little here for anyone else.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017, dir. David Soren)

Comics-loving best friends hypnotise their headteacher into becoming a superhero. Splendid animation – based on the Dav Pilkey books – that delivers a barrage of bottom jokes and a touching portrayal of childhood friendship. Recommended.
