A blind veteran protects a child from home invaders. Undeniably stylish and well-made horror/thriller sequel, though one with daft plot developments and a grimy aftertaste that takes it into torture porn territory. Nevertheless, director Sayagues is a talent: let’s hope there’s a more balanced script next time out.

A cop in an isolated rebab facility is stalked by the serial killer who murdered his fiancee. Daft but enjoyable minor genre fare, mashing up Agatha Christie and The Thing along with a hundred other influences. A solid cast of shifty character actors keeps matters rolling along until the inevitable fighty finale.
A group of veterans defend their bar from a violent drug gang. Gory, well-cast homage to early John Carpenter flicks (and by extension Rio Bravo). A game cast have fun, everyone’s in on the joke, and it’s good to see these vets have meaty roles. Doesn’t overstay its welcome, neither.
An embittered US Army veteran is given the task of repatriating a dying Cheyenne chief. Handsome, sombre and occasionally po-faced Western with a straightforward message. Good performances, though not quite the epic it wants to be.
A logger is caught up in a siege against drug-dealers. Somewhat contrived in its set-up, this is nevertheless a decent-enough wintry contemporary western, which sensibly focuses on snowy shootout action.
