Murders recommence when film students attempt to complete a supposedly cursed unfinished horror movie. Passable low-budget Aussie mashup of Scream and Wes Craven’s New Nightmare, with a few quirky kills and a fun Molly Ringwald performance.
200 years after the events of Alien 3, Ripley is cloned by military scientists eager to weaponise the xenomorph. Good-looking and humorous Part 4 with an excellent cast of character actors; tonal inconsistency and a wayward third act destabilise the storytelling. The compulsion to find new twists undoes some of the excellent earlier material presented here.
A serial killer re-enacts the true-life killings immortalised in a 70s drive-in movie. Well-directed horror flick with a neat premise (the 1976 film of the same name features throughout) and a decent cast of character actors, though the whodunnit climax is underwhelming.
Five students have a weekend away, but nothing is at it seems. Hugely entertaining horror deconstruction, as much about storytelling and the power of myth as it is about pulling apart old tropes for the sake of it. Absolutely recommended.
