The Silence of the Lambs (1991, dir. Jonathan Demme)

An FBI trainee enlists the help of a serial killer inmate to catch a murderer. Still-excellent adaptation of the Thomas Harris novel, faithful to the book but its own thing also. Autumnal and austere, with just a touch of gothic, and loaded with subtext.

Ready Player One (2018, dir. Steven Spielberg)

A teenager battles an evil corporation in a quest to control a virtual reality game-world. Sporadically spectacular but narratively dull SF adventure which improves on the source novel but still lapses into pop-culture reference tickbox territory at its lamest.

The Ghost of Charnel House [AKA Charnel House] (2016, dir. Craig Moss)

A renovated former slaughterhouse may be haunted by the child of a former serial-killer employee. Overly-complicated horror shenanigans with a couple of effective moments, though undone by its backstory,  poor CG, and some obvious writing.
