Thirty years later, Flynn’s son is scanned into the same computer universe his long-missing father found in the first film. Well-designed and with a super techno/disco soundtrack, this is a po-faced mess that can’t even sustain the daft people-as-programs conceit of its predecessor. Dull and overlong, though with OK support from a glam Michael Sheen.

A hacker is scanned into his former employer’s computer network; a parallel world awaits. Odd SF/fantasy mashing up evil tech corps and voguish videogames. Simplistic and weird, with some still-stunning design and a cool mix of early CG, traditional animation, and David Warner doing his best. A sequel followed in 2010.

A programmer ends up trapped inside an arcade game world. Visually impressive, with some pioneering CGI, the film struggles everywhere else with a limp story and a script written in techno babble.
One night at a motel on the California/Nevada border, where no-one is who they appear to be. Twisty-turny self-conscious comedy-thriller; lots of fun if you go with it, though the movie’s stately pace may frustrate some.
Kingsmen join with their American equivalent to battle a virus-wielding drug lord. Gleeful but over-stuffed, overlong and indulgent sequel, magnifying the first film‘s good points and its issues. Some fun to be had, tho, and Mark Strong gets a crowning moment of awesome.
