Surprising feel good movie based on the real life events of a would be female wrestler. Funny, witty with a confident cast and a plenty to like. Very enjoyable!
A zoologist and a renegade scientist team up to stop genetically-enhanced animals rampaging. Perfunctory and slightly po-faced monster mayhem, with only Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s man in black entering properly into the tongue-in-cheek fray.
Four teens are transported into an old video game. Contrived but fun sequel to the 1996 movie, which gets a lot of comedy out of its avatar/body-swap shtick, though the actual story is as linear as the games it spoofs. eXistenZ for kids, almost.
A disgraced Olympic swimmer becomes a lifeguard. Patchy and overlong reprise of the 90s TV show. Some funny moments, but they’re spread over a thin plot, iffy CG and a reliance on beach bodies and grossout/insult humour to carry the day.

A quake hits California; an estranged family tries to reunite. Despite hitting every dumb cliche in the disaster movie book, San Andreas is still an entertaining-enough flick, not least because it plays straight with its hackneyed material.

Tongue in cheek film remake of 80s show. Little to no actual plot, lots of boobs and dick jokes strewn with bad ad-libs and more boobs. Dwayne Johnson even struggles with this garbage. Rinse brain after viewing!
A Polynesian clan-leader’s daughter escapes her island home to prevent a terrible prophecy. Supremely confident quest narrative; a focused and involving animation with huge attention to story, action, and character detail. Recommended.
