A science teacher is recruited to fight a war that won’t happen for thirty years. Overlong, derivative (everything from Saving Private Ryan to The Thing gets pillaged) and at-times clunky SF/horror/war flick. The action is terrific throughout (and worth watching once for that alone), but the movie doesn’t know when to stop.

A group of strangers find themselves being hunted. Okay The Most Dangerous Game variant with a few plot wrinkles, not all of which work. Stronger on splatter gore moments than as the intended satire, but there’s some fun to be had, and Betty Gilpin is great in badass mode.
A widowed detective investigates deaths linked to the same house. Well-made series reboot (set between the first two of the 00s US J-horror remakes) that delivers with scares, splatter, icky imagery, fine cast and direction, plus some interesting script work. More a series of vignettes than an actual story, but this is superior genre fare.
