Treasure hunters team up to find a fabled hoard. Very straightforward series of globetrotting scrapes, heists, and escapes based loosely on the long-running videogame series. Variable production values don’t help. Lead Tom Holland does what he can with the material, but this is tickbox stuff throughout.

A reclusive naturalist and doctor voyages to find a fabled fruit so he can save the life of the young Queen Victoria. Genuinely terrible revisioning of the Hugh Lofting talks-to-animals character: a movie assembled from multiple reshoots and dubbing sessions. Michael Sheen is fun as the villain, but that’s about it.

A widow investigates an insurance company; a complicated web of financial fraud unravels. Superficially similar to The Big Short and Vice in its mix of drama, comedy and mockumentary, The Laundromat offers a clear and accessible primer to the Panama Papers scandal, and to Mossack (Oldman) and Fonseca (Banderas), both gleeful at its heart.
A retired rock singer has to rescue his kidnapped wife. Oddball comedy-thriller with some good ideas and performances, but awkward logic and a lack of actual action. A bit of a mess, but not without its moments; Banderas seems to be enjoying himself.
Three criminals hide out after a bungled heist, but find they’re in the disused warehouse lair of a dog-fighting gang. Decent little thriller, with plenty for its decent cast to do; a competent job all around with some arty moments.
An ex-marine mall cop defends his workplace from besieging kidnappers. Hugely enjoyable little B-movie riffing on Cohen & Tate, Die Hard and John Carpenter’s Rio Bravo-ish siege flicks. Some hideously-intrusive product placement aside, this is an unpretentious blast.
