The Kill Team (2019, dir. Dan Krauss)

A US soldier in Afghanistan is pressurised by a new sergeant into complicity in the murder of Afghan civilians. Developed from writer/director Krauss’s own documentary of the same name, this is a low-key but effective study of morals v camaraderie. No real surprises, but solid nevertheless.

Hold The Dark (2018, dir. Jeremy Saulnier)

A hunt for a child snatched by wolves is more complex than it first seems. Hugely impressive wintry contemporary Western, with perhaps a touch of the supernatural. Doesn’t give up its answers easy. Highly recommended.

War On Everyone (2016, dir. John Michael McDonagh)

Two bad cops try to snatch heist takings. After The Guard and Calvary, a disappointment from this writer/director. A stylized would-be comic thriller which gets as much wrong as it does right in mistaking context-free excess for fun.
